Recent Previous Hikes

During the Middle School Mountaineering elective, students take part in at least one day-long hike. We select an area in the Guadarrama Mountains to the west of Madrid. We plan and study a route that looks interesting and make a route plan. Then we take a school bus to the trailhead and spend the day following our route.

At the end of the elective, we plan a special hike to take place on a Saturday or Sunday, when we can plan a longer hike.

In both cases we invite and encourage the students' parents to participate. Our outings are great opportunities for students, parents and teachers to get together for a wonderful outdoor experience.
