Sandra Perez

IB Assistant

Sandra enjoys walking in the mountains and reading under a tree. She moved from Uruguay to Spain more than 20 years ago. Sandra loves it when alumni come back to ASM and pop into her office to say hello!

What are you proudest of in your life?
I am proud to be a fighter: to start a new life 23 years ago in a different country without giving up in bad times. Life experiences make me put my feet on the ground and reinforce my social commitment to those who have less and seek a better life.

Fun fact about you?
I was born in Uruguay, and I came here when I was 33 years old. Despite this, I have adapted perfectly to the Spanish way of life. But I can't live without drinking mate! I need my weekend breakfast with a mate and .... toast with ham and tomato, my favorite breakfast. Tell me if this is not a mixture of cultures !!!!

Any special projects outside of ASM?
Yes! I am studying again, updating my knowledge by taking the Certificate in Data Analysis. And my idea is to continue updating. You snooze, you lose!

What do you love about teaching/working at ASM?
ASM is my first experience working for a school in my 37 years of professional life, and I have to say it is the best. I like ASM as an institution and my colleagues very much, but working with students is the most satisfying.
Almost all of my work is for them. It is also true that sometimes “my kids” drive me crazy, but I have a great time with them most of the time.
Indeed, I'm not a teacher, so my relationship is different. Nevertheless, dealing with students and their parents gives me great satisfaction.

Favorite ASM memory?
I can't pick only one, but when the graduated students visit ASM during the last six years, they always come to see and hug me. So that means I did something good to be remembered.
