K3 students in a book parade
Emily Kutz, Lower School Intern

K3 students are now ready to take on the world of reading and want to thank ASM students and teachers for helping them celebrate this special milestone.

We are welcoming a new group of readers to ASM! Over the past few weeks, K3 students have dove into the magical world of reading. In their very first ¨reading workshop¨ experience, they have enjoyed exploring the wonders of reading and discovering that, in fact, they can read!

Since the beginning of the school year, K3 students have been working hard to learn important reading strategies and structures of workshop learning. While these routines will allow them to continue to develop their emergent literacy skills, more importantly, they developed a desire to read that will carry with them in and out of the classroom.

To celebrate this great achievement, students participated in a book parade around the Lower School. It was special for them to declare ¨we are readers!¨ to other grade levels and show off some of their favorite books.  As K3 students traveled around the Lower School, other grade levels cheered them on and congratulated them on their achievement. They were so proud of themselves and loved having the opportunity to celebrate with other readers throughout the school in a socially distant manner.
